TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Skyborn Renewables Taiwan reported the completion of 80 piles for its Offshore Wind Farm Yunlin (OWF Yunlin) project on Friday (July 11).
The company announced in a Facebook post that, through its subsidiary Yunneng Wind Power, it connected 42 turbines to the grid. This is equivalent to an installed capacity of 336MW, ranking it as the fourth largest among grid-connected wind farms in the nation, per CNA.
According to the company, the construction team has so far completed the installation of 72 transition pieces and 55 turbines. It also laid 42 array cables and 12 export cables.
Once the 640 MW wind farm is completed, it will provide renewable energy to over 600,000 households in Taiwan annually. To date, Skyborn Renewables’ offshore wind farm has generated over 1.4 billion kWh of electricity since connecting to the grid.
Yunneng Wind Power’s investment partners include TotalEnergies from France, Thailand’s Electricity Generating Public Company (EGCO), and Japan’s Sojitz Corporation.
The company previously faced financial difficulties. However, in August last year, it completed a financial restructuring agreement with banks and investors, and is now working at full speed, it said.
