TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — One of Taipei's most iconic seasonal events, the Taipei Summer Festival will light up the city from July 17 to Aug. 10.
Held at the picturesque Dadaocheng Wharf and Yanping Riverside Park, the festival promises a month of vibrant activities, including dazzling fireworks, outdoor fairs, and lively entertainment.
The centerpiece of the festival will be four spectacular firework displays scheduled for July 17, July 24, July 31, and Aug. 10. These shows will be accompanied by live music performances, according to the Department of Information and Tourism.
The first three firework displays will each last for 5 minutes, while the final show on Aug. 10 will extend to 8 minutes to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Throughout the festival, a 500-meter stretch of lighting and art installations will illuminate the Yanping Riverside Park in western Taipei. On Aug. 3, Yongle Plaza in Dadaocheng will host a classic melodies concert and a marketplace featuring unique and creative merchandise.
Festivalgoers can also enjoy discounted tickets for the Blue Waterway river cruises by following the Taipei City Government LINE account (ID: @taipei) and Facebook page. Additionally, a photography competition invites participants to capture and share memorable moments from the festival.
Visitors are encouraged to savor traditional snacks and explore the rich cultural and historical atmosphere of Dadaocheng before embarking on a scenic cruise along the Tamsui River. To avoid traffic disruptions during the fireworks displays, public transportation is recommended for reaching the festival venues.
