TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A magnitude 4.7 earthquake centered on Taiwan’s east coast was felt in Taipei on Wednesday afternoon (July 17).
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) logged the earthquake shortly after it occurred at 4.53 p.m. and said it struck 28.9 km north-northeast of Hualien County Hall at 17 km depth.
No damage was reported following the shake.
The quake was felt most strongly in Hualien’s Taroko area, and was also felt throughout the east coast, in Taichung, Nantou County, Taoyuan, New Taipei, Hsinchu County, and Changhua County.
Earthquakes continue to occur in Hualien following April 3, when a magnitude 7.2 quake resulted in at least 18 deaths and widespread damage. At time of publishing, the CWA had recorded six earthquakes in the county on Wednesday.
