TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan ranked 33rd in the 2024 Henley Passport Index on Wednesday (July 24), allowing its passport holders access to 141 destinations without a visa, per CNA.
Singapore had the most powerful passport for two consecutive years, granting its citizens entry to 195 destinations visa-free. Japan, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain were tied for second place, with access to 192 destinations.
The third place contained South Korea, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Ireland, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, with access to 191 destinations. The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland were in fourth place with 190 destinations.
Australia and Portugal tied for fifth with 189 destinations, while the United States slipped to eighth, with 186 visa-free destinations.
Taiwan tied with Peru for 33rd place this year. Hong Kong ranked 18th with 170 destinations, and China ranked 59th with 85 destinations.
Since the rankings began 19 years ago, Taiwan has moved from 55th to 33rd place among 199 countries and regions.
In last place were Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, with visa-free access to only 31, 28, and 26 destinations, respectively.
