TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Following days of torrential rain, flooding, strong winds, and closed schools and offices during Typhoon Gaemi, Taiwan is in for a brief pause with a relatively dry Sunday (July 28), reports said Saturday (July 27).
The low-pressure area will move away from Taiwan for the rest of the weekend, the Liberty Times reported. Parts of the east, southeast, and the Hengchun Peninsula in Pingtung County as well as mountainous areas might still have short showers or thunderstorms.
However, a new low-pressure area will influence the weather in Taiwan Monday (July 29) and Tuesday (July 30), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). Both the east and the south could experience more rain after the weekend.
A tropical depression might emerge east of the Philippines during next week, but forecasters said the likelihood of it strengthening into a tropical storm was limited. During the second half of the week, the weather would return to the pattern from before Typhoon Gaemi, including short thunderstorms.
