TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tourism in southern Taiwan will get another boost thanks to a new shuttle bus route that began service on Wednesday (Aug. 1) between Tainan and Kaohsiung International Airport.
As tourism continues to steadily recover towards pre-pandemic levels, Kaohsiung International Airport has seen an increase in traffic. To facilitate travel from the airport to Tainan, the city has teamed up with several e-commerce tour agencies to launch the shuttle bus service, according to the Tainan Tourism Bureau.
Tickets for the service cost NT$300 (US$9) for a single trip, or NT$540 for a round trip. Tainan City Government hopes the service will make it easier for international tourists to access the city.
The new shuttle bus service will have stops at Kaohsiung International Airport, Barclay Memorial Park, the Shangrila Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, the Tainan Bus Transfer Station, and Siaosimen, with an average travel time of about 1.5 hours between terminal stations. The service will provide four round trips from each terminal station every day, per the press release.
Departures from Kaohsiung International Airport to Tianan are scheduled for 12:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. daily. Departures from Siaosimen Station for the airport are set at 3:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.
Tickets for the service can be purchased online through tour agencies such as Klook, Kkday, Lion Travel, and Easy Travel, per UDN. As part of the same campaign to boost tourism, Tainan is also introducing several new travel packages to attractions around the city to further develop the local tourism industry.
