TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Creative Expo Taiwan 2024 will take place from Aug. 23 to Sept. 1 in Tainan for the first time.
The 10-day expo, themed “A Hundred Faces of Formosa,” features cultural exhibits, creative IP, and large-scale installations across three venues: Tainan Cultural and Creative Park, 321 Arts Village, and ICC Tainan. The expo will delve into Taiwan's multifaceted identity through a range of artistic expressions.
Visitors can expect to see five 3D installations outdoors, explore 10 walking routes, and browse nearly 700 booths showcasing local creative brands and products. The main exhibition, featuring cultural curation and brand displays, is set to take place at ICC Tainan.
In addition to the main exhibition, the expo will feature a variety of satellite events and workshops. Visitors can participate in hands-on activities, learn new skills, and connect with local artists and designers.
Curators have assembled a diverse collection of works that reflect the nation's history, traditions, and contemporary culture. From traditional crafts to cutting-edge digital art, the expo promises to offer an interesting experience for everyone.
Regarding the choice of Tainan as the venue, Minister of Culture Li Yuan (李遠) emphasized its special significance, "I love Tainan. It's not just about the local cuisine; it has mountains, rivers, historical sites, and cultural relics.”
Tainan's Department of Cultural Affairs Director Hsieh Shih-yuan (謝仕淵) said that the city is excited to host the expo, which will highlight the region’s rich history, culture, and creativity. "Tainan is a city of contrasts, with a blend of old and new, traditional, and modern."
A highlight of the expo is five interactive installations that will transform the urban landscape into a dynamic canvas. These immersive experiences will blend art, technology, and storytelling to create unforgettable moments for visitors.
For those seeking a more leisurely experience, the 10 curated walking routes will offer opportunities to explore Tainan's less well-known spots. These tours will take visitors through historic neighborhoods, vibrant markets, and cultural landmarks, providing a deeper understanding of the city's character.
The organizers of the Taiwan Creative Expo hope that the event will not only showcase the country's creativity but also foster cultural exchange and collaboration. By bringing together artists, designers, and entrepreneurs from Taiwan and around the world, the expo aims to create a platform for innovation and inspiration.
