TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will host a reception for Taiwan’s Olympic athletes at the Presidential Office on Friday (Aug. 16) in recognition of their accomplishments.
The Presidential Office has dubbed the special occasion "Our Heroes! Team Taiwan—Glory Together." The last group of athletes returning from the Paris Olympics will arrive in Taiwan early Tuesday morning. Three F-16V fighter jets will escort the flight as it enters Taiwanese airspace.
After the reception concludes on Friday afternoon, the athletes will participate in a parade at 3 p.m. from the Presidential Office. The procession will pass through Chongqing South Road Section 1, Xiangyang Road, and Guanqian Road and end at the Zhongxiao West Road and Zhongshan South Road intersection.
The Presidential Office encouraged the public to attend the parade to welcome Taiwan's Olympic heroes back home and support Team Taiwan. Taiwanese athletes won two gold and five bronze medals in badminton, boxing, gymnastics, weightlifting, and skeet shooting.
