TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei District Prosecutors Office ordered Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) presidential campaign accountant Tuanmu Cheng (端木正) to post a NT$1 million (US$30,974) bail on Wednesday (Aug. 14).
The prosecutor’s office also requested Muko Public Relations Marketing Limited head Li Wen-chuan (李文娟) to post a NT$1.5 million bail, per Public Television Service (PTS). The orders come as TPP Chair Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) is under scrutiny for making false donation declarations during the presidential election.
Additionally, Muko assistant Ho Ai-ting (何璦廷) was released on a NT$500,000 bail, while Ko’s campaign finance director Li Wen-zong (李文宗), Tuanmu’s assistant Chen Wei-hsuan (陳韋瑄), and NEO and OCT Entertainment Co manager Tai Li-ling (戴利玲) were all released without bail, CNA reported.
According to a Control Yuan report published on July 18, Ko’s political donation report had three expenses totaling NT$9.16 million (US$283,000). These funds were flagged as being unaccounted for.
On Monday (Aug. 12), Ko’s campaign team held a press conference about the allegations. After an investigation, they said there were 17 instances of misreporting from Tuanmu due to “time restraints.”
