TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese Americans traveled to Pennsylvania from New York and New Jersey to cheer on Taiwan’s Little League team on Wednesday (Aug. 14).
Taoyuan's Kuei-Shan Elementary School (KSES) baseball team is representing Taiwan at the 77th Little League World Series. The team opened the tournament with an 8-0 win over Canada, per Little League.
To support the young players, the Taiwanese American Association of New York (TAANY) organized a bus trip to Williamsport. Despite the four-hour journey, buses quickly filled up, reflecting the strong enthusiasm among the Taiwanese community, per CNA.
TAANY President Winston Liao (廖士敦) said the trip was designed to help older Taiwanese immigrants who might have difficulty making the long journey. This initiative provided a safe and convenient way for them to make the trip.
Kuei-Shan will play Australia on Saturday (Aug. 17) morning, aiming for a championship berth and a historic finish.
