TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese restaurant chain Din Tai Fung announced on Monday (Aug. 26) that it will withdraw from the northern China market by Oct. 31.
According to a statement from Beijing Heng Tai Feng Catering Co. published on Monday, the company’s license is set to expire after 20 years, and the board was unable to reach a consensus on renewal. As a result, the company will close 14 stores in Beijing, Tianjin, and other locations in northern China, according to CNA.
The company clarified that its operation and management of branches in other cities in China, including Shanghai and Nanjing, will not be affected, per Liberty Times.
Looking ahead, the company expressed optimism about the Chinese market and stated that it will continue to monitor trends and developments in the catering industry. The company also indicated its hope to collaborate again in the near future.
