TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An online community organized a scooter gathering to watch the sunrise at Wuling, a popular peak in Taiwan's Hehuanshan mountain range, with about 200 scooters ascending the mountain Monday (Aug. 26).
Police conducted joint inspections at Wuling. While citations for four cases of illegal parking and driving without licenses were issued, no major accidents occurred, per CNA.
The Nantou County Police Department's Traffic Division warned drivers and riders about the risks of driving or riding to Wuling at night. The high altitude creates a low-pressure environment with cold temperatures.
Fatigue is more likely to occur under these conditions, increasing the risk of accidents. The department advised taking precautions such as wearing warm clothing and avoiding driving or riding while tired.
