TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Starlux Airlines announced Tuesday (Aug. 27) that it will launch direct flights between Taichung and Okinawa, Japan, starting Dec. 2, and tickets are available for purchase.
The airline will operate four weekly round-trip flights on the Taichung-Okinawa route. This will be Starlux's fourth regular route from Taichung, per CNA.
The flights will be operated with the Airbus A321neo aircraft. The model has a capacity of 188 seats, including 8 business class seats and 180 economy class seats.
Starlux said this will be the first regular Japan route departing from Taichung. The airline aims to attract Taiwanese travelers seeking a convenient trip to Japan and Japanese tourists interested in exploring central Taiwan.
Starlux has partnered with Hoshino Resorts to offer flight and hotel packages. Passengers will be able to choose from three Hoshino Resorts.
Starlux began operating regular flights from Taichung in late March, serving Chian's Macau, Vietnam's Da Nang, and chartered flights to Japan's Takamatsu. The airline will also introduce a new route to Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island on Oct. 27.
