TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Prosecutors searched the offices of Kuomintang (KMT) Legislator Sra Kacaw (鄭天財) at the legislature on Tuesday (Aug. 27).
Prosecutors left the legislator’s offices around 2 p.m. and took three boxes of evidence and one computer, per CNA. They have not provided a reason for their search.
Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) said he was aware of the search but provided no further details on the case. In a statement, the KMT said since the reason for the search has yet to be announced, speculation should be avoided.
Three of Sra Kacaw’s staff were charged by prosecutors in 2024 with bribery and leaking public information. Neither prosecutors, the KMT, nor Sra Kacaw’s office provided information regarding whether Tuesday’s search was in connection with those charges.
