TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Jazz Festival is scheduled to begin Friday (Aug. 30), offering a fusion of Eastern and Western musical styles.
This year’s festival celebrates the Year of the Dragon with the theme "Long Lai Vu Jazz.” It will kick off with performances by five promising jazz bands and go on until Sept. 4, per Taipei City Government.
Following the opening acts, the festival will conclude with a three-day outdoor concert at Daan Forest Park from Sept. 6 to 8. The concert will feature a diverse range of jazz styles performed by renowned international and local artists, including six-time Grammy nominee Mike Stern and Taiwanese drumming legend Huang Ruei-feng (黃瑞豐).
A diverse range of jazz styles will be showcased by the jazz bands at venues like Oldie Goodie Live Music House, Blue Note Taipei, and REV-NOW. Admission is free.
The Taipei Metro will feature jazz-themed trains and station music from Sept. 6 to 8. The Taipei Jazz Orchestra will also perform surprise flash mobs on Tamsui-Xinyi Line trains.
