TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Prosecutors suspect Kuomintang (KMT) Legislator Sra Kacaw (鄭天財) of receiving bribes from green energy companies between 2020 and 2023, reports said on Tuesday (Aug. 27).
The lawmaker was released on bail of NT$2 million (US$62,540) Tuesday evening after prosecutors summoned him for questioning, per CNA. Earlier on Tuesday, prosecutors searched his offices at the legislature and removed a computer and boxes of evidence.
Questioning reportedly lasted 12 hours before bail was posted at around 10 p.m. and the lawmaker was released. He has been ordered to remain in Taiwan for the duration of the investigation.
