TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Peak-hour intervals between stations on the northern section, from New Taipei Industrial Park to Banqiao, of the New Taipei Circular Line will be shortened from 15 to 12 minutes starting Sept. 2, The New Taipei Metro Corporation said Thursday (Aug. 29).
The April 3 earthquake caused disruptions to the line's operation between Qiaohe station and Banxin stations. As a result, the line has been divided into northern and southern sections, per CNA.
The northern section has adopted a double-track, bi-directional mode. Trains have stopped at all stations to meet commuting and school travel demand since June 3.
Peak-hour intervals for the southern section from Dapinglin to Zhonghe will remain at 7 to 8 minutes.
Return trains may depart from a different platform than the original boarding platform. Passengers are reminded to check announcements at station entrances, ticket gates, and train arrival countdown screens to ensure they board the correct train.
The metro corporation aims to finish the entire line by the end of the year. However, road closures may occur periodically due to repair work on the section between Qiaohe and Banxin stations.
This might impact motorists and public transportation passengers. Please visit the New Taipei Metro's official website and Facebook page for the most current information.
