TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese table tennis players Tian Shiau-wen (田曉雯) and Lin Tzu-yu (林姿妤) defeated Turkey to advance to the semi finals at the Paralympic Games in Paris on Friday (Aug. 30).
The women’s doubles pair won all three matches against Turkey’s Merve Demir and Neslihan Kavas. They scored 11-7, 11-6, and 11-8 in each of the matches, meaning they advanced to the semifinals and now are guaranteed at least bronze medals, per CNA.
Tian won bronze in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in women’s singles table tennis, and Lin won gold at the 2022 Asian Paralympic Games in Hangzhou.
Taiwan’s Paralympic medal tally is now at least two, after Taiwan’s Hsiao Hsiang-wen (蕭翔文) bagged bronze in taekwondo on Thursday (Aug. 29).
