TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei has introduced a new travel pass, the WMG2025 FunPass, to promote tourism ahead of the World Masters Games (WMG) 2025.
The event is scheduled to take place from May 17-30 in Taipei and New Taipei. It aims to encourage lifelong sports, foster international exchanges, and highlight the cities' innovative technology.
The WMG2025 FunPass allows holders to visit any three of 20 attractions and activities across Taipei, New Taipei, Hsinchu, Keelung, Taoyuan, and Yilan from May 1 to June 15, 2025, per the tourism agency of Taipei City. Notable sites include the National Palace Museum, Jiufen Old Street, Juming Museum, and Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center.
The pass features the WMG mascot “Strong,” styled as the Chinese character for “north” (北), and is available in two versions. The first is a commemorative blue edition for the first 3,000 foreign athletes who register. The second is an ordinary white edition, which can be purchased on the FunPass Taipei website for NT$1,220 (US$38.25).
In addition to accessing tourist spots, the card can be used for public transportation and small purchases at retailers like convenience stores. Presale runs from Sept. 18 to March 18, 2025.
