TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan’s “King of Mandopop,” Jay Chou (周杰倫), will be the first artist to perform a full concert at the Taipei Dome, reports said Friday (Sept. 6).
The 40,000-seat arena was built with baseball games and other sports events in mind, but both local and international stars have eyed the prestigious location to stage concerts. The recent approval of a fire safety review resulted in a green light for musicals and other events not related to sports.
Chou’s record label, JVR Music, said on Facebook that his concert would take place in early December, though there was no precise date. The event will be part of the singer’s “Carnival” tour and will be his first concert in Taipei City in seven years, per CNA.
While Chou’s December performance will be the first full concert by a singer at the Taipei Dome, Jody Chiang (江蕙) is expected to sing there as part of the National Day Gala scheduled for Oct. 5. The event will see Chiang’s first public performance since she retired from show business nine years ago.
