TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taitung’s Taimali Daylily Mountain is in full bloom as tourists go on sightseeing buses, which are fully booked for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
According to the travel website OwlTing Experiences, daylily-viewing tour buses began operating Aug. 26. Tourists sought to reserve seats until the end of the blooming season in late September.
OwlTing offered the tours in conjunction with Taimali Township Office, allowing visitors to travel by bus on remote, winding roads to Daylily Mountain. The tour is popular among those aged 40 to 60, and even 80-year-olds have participated, per CNA.
Taimali Township Office said Daylily Mountain has a maximum elevation of 1,450 meters above sea level. Traveling on mountainous roads can be dangerous due to weather and poor cell phone reception.
To ensure the safety of tourists, Taimali Township Office launched bus tours with a professional tour guide. It includes an itinerary with stops at Wangyou Valley (忘憂谷) and other daylily viewing areas at high and low elevations.
Tickets can be purchased online, with half-day tours costing NT$450 (US$14). The trip lasts 3.5 hours, with buses departing daily at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. except for Tuesday and Wednesday, until Sept. 29.
