TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said offshore low-pressure systems will impact Taiwan’s weather this week, leading to afternoon thundershowers and intermittent rain.
Wu said a low-pressure system passing over Taiwan on Tuesday (Sept. 10) will lead to heavy rain in northern and northeastern areas, while afternoon thundershowers are expected in central and southern areas. Along with rain across much of Taiwan, Wu expects temperatures to drop slightly.
While a low-pressure system is expected to depart on Wednesday (Sept. 11), there is a chance of intermittent showers in various areas. Afternoon thundershowers are predicted for central and southern regions, per UDN.
The latest weather modeling shows lots of water vapor near Taiwan on Thursday (Sept. 12) and Friday (Sept. 13). Unstable atmospheric conditions will make it easy for strong convection systems to develop in the afternoon, creating the chance for short-term rainfall.
By the weekend, another low-pressure system will approach Taiwan, creating the opportunity for more showers. Long-range weather observation is subject to variables, Wu added.
