TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Minister Wu Cheng-wen (吳誠文) is leading a mission from Sept. 5-10 to deepen science and tech cooperation between Taiwan and the US.
According to a press release on Monday (Sept. 9), Wu met with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Laurie Locascio in Maryland on Friday, per CNA. The meeting included introducing emerging technologies in standardization and a progress brief on the CHIPS and Science Act.
Wu shared Taiwan’s policies related to semiconductors and AI, with extensive exchanges on related topics taking place between both parties.
Wu also visited the National Science Foundation (NSF) in Virginia where he was received by Chief Science Officer Karen Marrongelle. They discussed AI research policies, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Wu then traveled to New York where he was a guest speaker for the Chinese American Academic and Professional Society’s (CAAPS) 49th annual convention on Sunday. His keynote centered on Taiwan becoming an AI island.
The NSTC said Wu will head to San Francisco to attend the Taiwan Science and Technology Hub at Stanford University on Tuesday.
