TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — This photo shows an EVA Air passenger jet flying past Taipei 101 after taking off from Taipei Songshan Airport on Monday (Sept. 9).
The photo was taken as a low-pressure system brought intermittent rain in Greater Taipei and the northeast, per CNA. Northeastern winds provided good conditions for air diffusion on the windward side, but in the afternoon, a slight rise in ozone concentration led overall air quality to range from "Good" to "Moderate."
Songshan Airport is a popular airport for travelers because it is centrally located in Taipei's Songshan District. The airport's location means shorter MRT, bus, and taxi rides to locations in Taipei compared with Taoyuan International Airport.
Its position in the heart of Taipei also provides onlookers with angles to capture planes in flight in front of major landmarks such as the Grand Hotel. Airplane Alley, located at Lane 180, Binjiang Street, is the most popular spot to take photos of aircraft taking off and landing from Songshan Airport.
