TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's Mandopop diva A-Mei (張惠妹) said Thursday (Sept. 12) that she will hold five shows in the Taipei Dome at the end of the year.
The singer revealed she will perform at the massive venue on Dec. 21, 22, 28, 29, and 31. As such she will become the first star to headline during the New Year's Eve period at Taipei Dome, per TVBS.
A-Mei’s ASMR World Tour kicked off at Taipei Arena in 2022, where she held 12 sold-out shows, breaking the record for the most consecutive performances by a female singer in Taiwan and grossing NT$429 million (US$13.3 million). The following year, she presented 10 more shows at Kaohsiung Arena, grossing an additional NT$336 million.
During the tour, she also performed in major cities like London, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Melbourne, and Sydney, and twice headlined the iconic Nippon Budokan in Japan. The latest shows are part of this year's extension of the diva's ASMR World Tour titled the ASMR MAX 2024 World Tour.
Before the Taipei Dome was completed in 2023, A-Mei was frequently asked if she wanted to perform there. Her manager Chen Chen-chuan (陳鎮川) said, "We haven't denied it. We're waiting for good news from the landlord. The Taipei Dome only announced the 2025 booking application process last Friday (Sept. 6)."
Chen added rental fees for the Taipei Dome are 30% higher than those for the Taipei Arena, with a relatively higher revenue share, making the number of shows a key point of interest.
