TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Development Council (NDC) Minister Liu Chin-ching (劉鏡清) led nearly fifty startups to Tokyo on Tuesday (Sept. 17) for the two-day Japan-Taiwan Innovation Summit.
According to a Tuesday press release, this year marks the first time Taiwan co-hosted a major forum with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Over 100 companies from Taiwan and Japan were invited to attend, per CNA.
Liu in his speech said the purpose of the National Development Council's “Bridge” project is to help Taiwan’s industries connect with the world and form a global ecosystem. He said that Taiwan plans to build a hub in Tokyo to facilitate exchanges between Taiwanese and Japanese companies and investment institutions.
The NDC said this year’s summit is larger than previous ones, focusing on industrial innovation including Japan’s semiconductor supply chain. The summit connected Taiwanese startups with Japanese investors across diverse fields, including AI, biomedicine, cybersecurity, and defense.
Liu thanked the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for their support. He hopes to enhance cooperation with Japan under the motto “Together, Go Big.”
