TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Due to the influence of the outer cloud bands of Tropical Storm Pulasan there is a chance of sudden downpours on Thursday (Sept. 19) and continued rain into the weekend.
Forecaster Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇) said Pulasan will pass quickly over the East China Sea during the day and is expected to make landfall along China's coast by the evening. However, Pulasan's southwest side could bring increased moisture to Taiwan in the coming days.
Wu said Thursday north and northeastern Taiwan will experience intermittent showers and sporadic heavy rain. In central and southern Taiwan, afternoon thunderstorms are likely.
Wu said as Pulasan heads toward China, its outer circulation is merging with a low-pressure system that will likely bring rain to southern Taiwan, Hualien, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula from through Sunday. Central and northern Taiwan could see afternoon thunderstorms during this time.
