TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taipei Marriott Hotel's Lobby Lounge is offering a special autumn afternoon tea set for two, featuring 12 pastries.
“Autumn Moments” is available daily from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and lasts until Oct. 31. Eight sweets and four savories are offered for each person.
Chestnuts, citrus, and green grapes are blended with Valrhona chocolate, Uji matcha, and French sparkling wine. Four handmade savory options feature Sri Lankan blue swimming crab, Japanese grilled eel, and smoked salmon.
The set is priced at NT$2,080 (US$65) for two, including an assortment of pastries, savories, and coffee or tea. An upgrade to NT$2,380 includes two glasses of sparkling wine.

Afternoon tea savories

- American-style crab meat cake
Hand-picked blue crab meat is sauteed with onions, celery, and carrots, then seasoned with American-style mustard. Lightly coated in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs, the cakes are deep-fried to a golden brown and served with a zesty lemon aioli and vinaigrette.
- Japanese Kabayaki eel and cured egg fresh spring roll
Grilled Japanese eel, glazed with a savory teriyaki sauce, is paired with sliced preserved duck egg, fresh oranges, and lettuce, wrapped in nori and Vietnamese rice paper. It is topped with white sesame seeds and a sprinkle of onion.
- Spiced chicken and chestnut tart
A pastry crust is filled with chestnut cream and sous-vide chicken breast. Topped with vibrant onion and tomato salsa and a sprinkle of pickled jalapeno, the tart is finished with a drizzle of sweet and tangy apricot glaze.
- Smoked salmon and cheese red onion roll
Cream cheese, cashews, walnuts, and chives is combined with smoked salmon and stuffed into a whole steamed onion. The dish is then finished with a zesty lemon sauce.
Sweets
- Champagne and grape jelly cup
A layer of champagne jelly made with French sparkling wine sets the base. Lemon mousse made with fresh lemon juice follows, finished with a green grape jelly.

- Oolong tea cake
The multi-layered treat features Taiwanese oolong tea, French Isigny butter, and almond flour. The cake is adorned with a crunchy oolong dacquoise and chocolate chip.
- Citrus matcha Chantilly mille feuille
A classic French crepe cake is filled with citrus jam made from sunkist oranges and French citrus pulp. The cake is then topped with a matcha chantilly cream made with Uji matcha, mascarpone cheese, and fresh cream.
It is then garnished with citrus fruits and seasonal fruits.

- Rum pound cake
This floral-inspired dessert features pound cake baked with butter, almond flour, and rum, and glazed with rum-infused icing. It is adorned with delicate chocolate flowers and a touch of edible gold leaf.
- Vanilla creme brulee puff
Miniature puffs are filled with rich custard made from Tahitian vanilla and milk topped with flan made with rum, milk, and eggs. The flan is then sprinkled with sugar, torched until caramelized, and adorned with a touch of gold leaf.
- Chestnut Mont Blanc
A sweet almond crust is filled with almond cream made with almond powder and rum. The dessert is finished with a swirl of chestnut cream made with French chestnut puree and fresh cream.

- Rich chocolate cake
Layers of moist Valrhona sponge cake are filled with rich chocolate cream made from 70% dark Valrhona chocolate, French cream cheese, and fresh milk.
