TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Fubon Bank plans to offer 30 youth financial camps for students this year with seven sessions for disadvantaged youth through cooperation with the League for Persons with Disabilities (Taiwan).
This year’s camp will include three sessions for hearing-impaired children. Such classes will involve on-site sign language interpretation and a special curriculum to teach children about fiscal responsibility and money management, per a Taipei Fubon Bank press release.
Youth financial camps will also be offered to children from remote areas for the second consecutive year. Yilan’s Kelin Elementary School students will be invited again to participate in financial management courses at Taipei Fubon Bank’s Luodong Branch.

Taoyuan’s Neihai Elementary School and Yunlin County’s Minglun Elementary School are joining the financial camps for the first time. By increasing access to financial information, Taipei Fubon Bank believes children and their families can avoid financial traps or fraud groups.
Taipei Fubon Bank is also working with the Taipei City Beitou Women Support and Empowerment Center to offer youth financial management education to disadvantaged youth and families. Through the courses, students will gain more opportunities for financial inclusion and equality.
The theme of this year's camp is "Financial Security," with teaching materials encouraging more role-playing through an interactive board game. The games help students learn about common financial fraud techniques and prevention methods.
For example, students were invited to understand more about ATM operations and different functions through practical exercises. This teaches students the importance of protecting account information to prevent ATM fraud.

The financial camp curriculum also targets youth and parents from urban areas. Participation in the courses teaches parents how to apply for youth bank accounts and passbooks that manage multiple assets, such as NT dollar accounts, foreign currency, and trust fund accounts.
At the end of May, Taipei Fubon Bank had 295,000 youth accounts, which had increased by 3.5% over the previous year.
Taipei Fubon Bank encourages parents to educate their children about financial management and the importance of savings. By exposing children to financial knowledge at a young age, they will be better prepared to embark upon a lifetime of savings and financial independence.
