TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Although a tropical storm forming southeast of Japan is not expected to impact Taiwan, a low-pressure system located east of Taiwan could transform into a tropical storm over the weekend, bringing rain early next week.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 25), a tropical depression was churning in the waters southeast of Kyushu, Japan, and is expected to become Tropical Storm Cimaron within 24 hours, reported TyTech Taiwan.
On Friday, TyTech predicted that Cimaron would quickly pass near Japan's Kansai and Kanto regions and advised travelers heading to Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo, and surrounding areas to pay attention to the weather conditions.
TyTech said a low-pressure system south of Japan’s Ryukyu Islands could impact Taiwan. It is expected to develop in the coming days and possibly become a tropical storm by the weekend.
TyTech added the system is expected to approach Taiwan around Tuesday. Currently, it is unclear if it will directly affect Taiwan or veer northward.
