TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The military will start its National Day events with Black Hawk helicopters overflying the Presidential Office Building early Thursday (Sept. 26) morning.
The committee organizing the October 10 Double Ten events cautioned the public not to worry, as the helicopters are likely to produce a lot of noise during their flight scheduled for 6 a.m.
The two UH-60M helicopters will take off from bases in Taoyuan and Hsinchu in the direction of Taipei to try out the route they will follow for National Day, Radio Taiwan International reported. In the case of rain, the rehearsals would be rescheduled for Friday (Sept. 27), the committee said.
On Oct. 2, the Mirage 2000-5 fighter jet will join the Black Hawk for flights between 6:20 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. From 6:50 a.m. to 7:15 a.m., a CH-47SD Chinook helicopter, a Black Hawk, three Brave Eagle Advanced Jet Trainers, and three AT-3 jet trainers will cross the skies of downtown Taipei.
The third day of rehearsals, on Oct. 4, will feature the F-16 and the Black Hawk between 6:20 a.m. and 6:40 a.m., and a Chinook, a Black Hawk, five Brave Eagles and seven AT-3 jet trainers between 6:50 a.m. and 7:15 a.m.
The organizing committee told the public to look up and wave at the aircraft. The Oct. 10 events will be the first National Day celebrations since President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) election in January and inauguration in May.
