TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — To incentivize foreign travelers to return to Taiwan, the Tourism Administration is offering repeat travelers a chance to enter a second lucky draw.
In 2023, the Tourism Administration announced a subsidy scheme in which NT$5,000 (US$157) would be provided to 500,000 foreign tourists who win a lucky draw that runs until June 30, 2025. On Thursday (Sept. 26), the Tourism Administration Director-General Chou Yung-hui (周永暉) revealed the new lucky draw for returning travelers at the Tourism EXPO Japan 2024, per CNA.
At Thursday's conference, Chou said that from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, independent visitors returning to Taiwan can participate in the “Taiwan the Lucky Land” draw for the chance of a NT$5,000 travel stipend. To be eligible, participants must be independent travelers who hold non-Taiwan passports, have stays in Taiwan of three to 90 days, are not in tour groups, and are not applying for group-related Taiwan travel incentives.
To take part, travelers must first register between one to seven days before arrival. Upon arrival, visitors can try the draw at the Taiwan the Lucky Land desk at arrival halls in Taiwan's airports and if they win, they can receive their prize on the spot.
Winners must choose whether to receive the funds via a pre-paid card or a set of accommodation vouchers. These prizes are valid for up to 90 days after issuance.
