TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A tropical depression located south of the Ryukyu Islands intensified into a mild typhoon 8 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 28), the Central Weather Administration (CWA) announced.
Typhoon Krathon is expected to bring significant rainfall to northern, northeastern, and eastern Taiwan. There is potential for heavy rain or torrential downpours, per CNA.
The typhoon is expected to gradually move west and then northwestward toward Taiwan's east coast, leading to the suspension of ferry services. It is forecast to make its closest approach to Taiwan between Sept. 30 and Oct. 2.
Northern, northeastern, and eastern Taiwan will experience showers or thunderstorms on Sept. 30. Central Taiwan, northern, northeastern, and eastern regions will also experience showers or thunderstorms on Oct. 1 and 2.
