TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — All reserved trains on the eastern and western lines will be suspended Wednesday (Oct. 2) due to Typhoon Krathon, Taiwan Railway announced.
Local and Fast Local trains will be adjusted according to weather conditions before Wednesday noon. The entire south link line will be suspended, per CNA.
Typhoon Krathon is currently centered southwest of Kaohsiung. While its outer bands have already reached southern Taiwan, the storm is expected to gradually weaken, per CNA.
Western line trains will operate normally from Keelung to Changhua. Changhua to Fangliao operations will be adjusted based on weather conditions.
Eastern line trains from Taipei to Hualien will only run as far as Heren or Heping stations before noon Wednesday and will be adjusted based on weather conditions. Trains from Hualien to Yilan will only operate as far as Xincheng and will be adjusted based on weather conditions.
Trains between Hualien and Taitung will operate normally but may be adjusted due to weather. Branch lines of the suspended south link line such as Pingxi, Liujia, and Neiwan lines, will run normally but may be adjusted based on weather conditions. Jiji and Shalun lines will be completely suspended.
Passengers who purchased tickets for any of the above-listed trains during the typhoon sea warning period can bring the tickets to any station for refunds without a service fee. Refunds are valid for one year from the date of the ticket.
