TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Airborne Service Corps successfully rescued a man suffering from a heart attack on Orchid Island during strong winds and rain from Typhoon Krathon on Wednesday (Oct. 2).
The 62-year-old man surnamed Zhou (周) suffered a myocardial infarction after 5 a.m. on Wednesday and requested urgent air transfer to Taitung, per CNA. A team from the Airborne Service Corps received the call and dispatched a Black Hawk helicopter stationed at Taitung Fengnian Airport to Orchid Island at 5:48 a.m.
The Airborne Service Corps flew to Orchid Island Airport at maximum speed to transport Zhou to Taitung’s Mackay Hospital for treatment.
