Due to Typhoon Krathon's delayed landfall, track inspections have been postponed, the THSR announced. Service on the southern section will resume 6 p.m. Thursday.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) will shut down its southern section on Thursday (Oct. 3) until 2 p.m. due to Typhoon Krathon.
THSR will continue to operate between Nangang and Taichung. Two trains per hour are scheduled, per THSR.
After 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, all sections of the THSR will resume normal operations, with two trains departing from both Nangang and Zuoying stations per hour. All seats, except for business class, will be unreserved and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Additional trains will depart from Taichung at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., heading south and north. The trains will stop at all stations to accommodate passengers in central Taiwan.
The final trains departing from Nangang and Zuoying stations will be adjusted to 9:30 p.m. Additional trains will also leave from Nangang and Zuoying to Taichung at 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., stopping at all stations.
Passengers who bought tickets during the typhoon sea warning period can get a full refund without service fees. Refunds are valid for one year from the date of the ticket.
