TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Work and classes were canceled in Kaohsiung and Pingtung on Friday (Oct. 4) after Typhoon Krathon.
The Cabinet made the announcements just after 8 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 3). Cancellations were also announced for some mountainous areas in Hualien and New Taipei's Ruifang.
Work and classes in all other areas will continue as normal.
Typhoon Krathon made landfall in Kaohsiung on Thursday afternoon, after which wind and rain warnings were issued across the country.
Typhoon sea and land warnings remained in place for all of Taiwan except Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and the Matsu and Kinmen Islands at the time of publishing.
