TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Krathon was downgraded to a tropical depression on Friday (Oct. 4).
At 5:30 a.m., the Central Weather Administration (CWA) lifted its land and sea warnings for Krathon. Due to Krathon's remaining rainbands, the CWA has issued an extremely heavy rain advisory for Taipei and a heavy rain advisory for Keelung and New Taipei until late Friday afternoon.
The CWA said winds and waves remain strong in the seas off northern Taiwan and the Taiwan Strait. It issued large wave and swell warnings around Taiwan and its outlying islands.
It also warned of strong wind gusts in open coastal areas from Taichung to Tainan and New Taipei to Miaoli. Strong winds are also expected in Lienchiang County and Penghu County.
