TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The first wave of Autumn seasonal northeasterly winds is predicted to bring cooler, wetter weather to north Taiwan through midweek, but conditions will improve on National Day (Oct. 10).
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) said cloudy skies and showers are likely from Monday to Wednesday (Oct. 7-9) in the north, east, Penghu County, and Lienchiang County, per UDN. Rain is possible in Keelung, Yilan, and mountainous areas of Greater Taipei.
Central and southern Taiwan and Kinmen County will see partly cloudy to sunny skies, with brief afternoon thunderstorms possible.
From Monday to Wednesday, temperatures will be cooler in the north with lows between 22 and 24 C and highs reaching 28 to 30 C. Temperatures in central and southern Taiwan will still be hot with a high of about 31 C.
On National Day, the CWA forecasts sporadic showers possible in the east, mountainous areas of Greater Taipei, and Lienchiang County. In the west, Penghu, and Kinmen, skies will be partly cloudy to sunny, with occasional showers in the mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan.
Skies above the Presidential Office Building on National Day will be mostly cloudy to clear, with daytime temperatures in Taipei ranging between 24 C and 29 C.
