TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taoyuan City Government has unveiled National Day-themed pedestrian signals.
Taoyuan has launched National Day month-long activities for two consecutive years. This month, the city's transportation department added creative touches to pedestrian signals at the intersection in front of Taoyuan City Hall on Xianfu Road.
The little green figure that guides pedestrians across the road is now shown holding a flag as it walks forward during the green light. For red lights, the three elements of National Day — the Taiwan flag, the Double Ten symbol, and fireworks — are now displayed.

Taoyuan Department of Transportation Director-General Chang Hsin-fu (張新福) said the little red figure will also wave a flag like the green pedestrian figure. The Taiwan flag will appear at the top, followed by the two Mandarin characters for 10 (十) placed side by side to symbolize Double Ten.
Text will be displayed at the top presenting the city's National Day month-long theme, “Glorious National Day Shines in Taoyuan” (光輝國慶 閃耀桃園). Lastly, Chang said an animation of National Day fireworks will appear as an Easter egg.
