TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tropical Storm Trami is predicted to form soon and could affect Taiwan's weather on Thursday (Oct. 24).
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) said a tropical depression east of the Philippines could strengthen into the 20th tropical storm of the year as early as Monday, per CNA. Its outer circulation may approach Taiwan on Thursday and Friday, and combined with the northeast monsoon could bring heavy rain to the north and east.
The CWA said the tropical storm is expected to move west toward the South China Sea, but its path is still uncertain. Trami could turn into a moderate typhoon or stronger.
According to the CWA, a northeast monsoon will strengthen between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday, bringing rain to Keelung's North Coast, Greater Taipei mountainous areas, and Yilan.
