TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei was ranked fifth on online travel site Agoda's list of the most sought-after destinations for couples in October.
On Oct. 7, Agoda released the 10 Hottest Destinations for Couples based on accommodation searches on its website. According to Agoda, the rating reflects a pronounced preference for cities, with Tokyo topping the list, followed by Seoul, Bangkok, Osaka, and Taipei.
The travel firm said the ranking, primarily consisting of cities, demonstrated the allure of urban experiences. The searches point to a pattern of interest in “vibrant cityscapes and cultural hubs in Northeast Asia.”
Tokyo was rated the top selection for couples from Thailand, South Korea, and Taiwan. Bangkok was the first choice for couples from nearby Malaysia and Vietnam.
Rather than island retreats, Andrew Smith, senior vice president of supply at Agoda, said the results show couples are more interested in city trips. Smith said the advantage of these locations is that they “offer something different each time and cater to shorter getaways.”
Smith said city destinations are well-suited for couples “unable to take long vacations but still looking to spend some quality time together away from home.”
