TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tropical Storm Trami is forecast to bring rain to north and east Taiwan on Thursday and Friday (Oct. 24-25).
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said the monsoon will strengthen on Wednesday. Wu predicted the north will turn cool and wet with temperatures ranging from 20 to 26C in the north, 21 to 31C in the central region, 21 to 33C in the south, and 21 to 31C in the east.
Wu forecast that Trami's outer circulation on Thursday and Friday is likely to bring heavy rain to the north and east. Wu also advised that strong surface winds are expected near Taiwan and over some coastal and inland areas.
"On Saturday, Trami will gradually move away," said Wu, predicting rain in the east, with localized afternoon showers or thunderstorms in the west. On Sunday, the weather will be unstable, with convection likely developing in mountainous areas and central and southern regions in the afternoon, said Wu.
Wu added the Central Weather Administration's forecast chart shows that Trami's center will pass over Luzon and enter the South China Sea by 2 a.m. on Friday. By 2 a.m. on Monday, it will be over waters south of China's Hainan Island, said Wu.
