TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei City issued a strongly worded statement on Thursday (Oct. 24) warning the operator of the Taipei Dome that it will be fined daily if leaks are not fixed by the end of October.
The Taipei City Department of Sports said water leaks have occurred in different areas of the stadium since December 2023, which has impacted event organizers and the ticket-buying public, per CNA. It said it was unfortunate that stadium operator Farglory Group, whose core business is construction, has so far failed to solve the water leak problem.
The sports department accused Farglory of being “passive and evasive” on the issue. It said the company had failed to provide adequate explanations for the leaks or plans to solve the problem.
The sports department said Farglory has since committed to fixing the leaks before Oct. 31. It said it will impose a NT$100,000 daily (US$3,120) fine on the company if this deadline is not met, up to a value of NT$7 million.

The sports department said in late September the leaks must be fixed by “the end of October,” though financial penalties were not mentioned at that time.
Farglory’s response to the leaks will also be included in an annual operational assessment, the sports department said. It said that if the operator receives a low score for two consecutive years, its contract will be terminated.
The sports department also reminded the company that it must consult with the city government before renting any of the venue’s 18 spectator boxes. It said the boxes are not Farglory's private property, and asked the company to make the rental system public.
The sports department emphasized that it will not allow Farglory to break the law, and that it will continue to carry out checks and inspections of the venue.
