TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Typhoon Kong-rey's (康芮) projected path has shifted toward south Taiwan with the largest effects predicted to be Thursday and Friday (Oct. 31 - Nov.1)
Early Tuesday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) upgraded Kong-rey to a typhoon. Kong-rey is 940 km southeast of Eluanbi heading northwest at 13 kph toward southeast Taiwan.
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said the models for various countries have been adjusted southward with Kong-rey expected to pass through the south. Wu said modeling shows it could shift further south.

Wu said on Wednesday that the northeast monsoon and Kong-rey's outer circulation would bring rain to the north and northeast, with scattered showers in the east, and fair to partly cloudy skies in central and southern regions.
Wu said that Kong-rey is currently projected to make landfall on the east coast of south Taiwan on Thursday. Its effects would likely be greatest on Thursday and Friday, with strong winds and heavy rain, especially around the landfall point.
By Saturday and Sunday, Wu forecasted Kong-rey will have moved away, and the weather will improve, although residual moisture may still lead to isolated showers.
