TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Following the signing of a bilateral science and technology agreement in May, Taiwan’s envoy to Australia Douglas Hsu (徐佑典) visited the AusBiotech fair in Melbourne on Wednesday (Oct. 30).
He presided over the opening of a Taiwan pavilion with 11 companies at the event and met with Australian business leaders from the sector, per CNA. The exchanges between the two countries focused on clinical trials and biotech innovation research and development.
Hsu emphasized Taiwan's prominent role in vaccine and drug development and the close ties between biotech businesses from both countries. In July, 21 Australian companies exhibited at BIO Asia in Taipei, he added.
In his address, the envoy also mentioned how the Southern Taiwan Science Park in Tainan was an important base for biotech advances. Park management had accompanied five companies to AusBiotech to present their achievements, he said.
