TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Over 500 flights have been canceled as Typhoon Kong-rey is poised to make landfall in east Taiwan on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 31).
With Kong-rey approaching, 527 domestic and international flights were canceled, with eight delayed, per Newtalk. According to the Civil Aeronautics Administration, as of 10 a.m., 229 domestic flights were canceled and 298 international flights called off.
As of 8 a.m., Taoyuan Airport canceled 227 flights, including 117 inbound flights consisting of 102 passenger flights and 15 cargo flights, and 110 outbound flights made up of 97 passenger flights and 13 cargo flights.
The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation said during the typhoon it will implement flight flow management as necessary to maximize the use of available aircraft parking positions while ensuring operational safety and efficiency. It said airlines will continuously review and adjust flight schedules in response to the typhoon.
