TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A trade delegation from the US state of Idaho, led by Governor Brad Little, arrived in Taiwan on Sunday (Nov. 3) and will stay until Wednesday (Nov. 6).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed a sincere welcome to the governor, his wife, and other members of the delegation. While in Taiwan, the group plans to meet Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), and sign a memorandum commemorating the 40-year anniversary of the Taiwan-Idaho Sister State agreement, according to a press release.
This trip marks Little’s third time visiting Taiwan since becoming Governor of Idaho in 2019.
By personally leading the trade delegation, Little emphasizes the importance of trade relations between Idaho and Taiwan, which is the state’s second largest foreign trade partner after Canada. MOFA reports that semiconductors account for about 40% of the bilateral trade volume.
In addition to celebrating 40 years of Sister State status, the delegation plans to visit the Ministry of Economic Affairs and consult with local business leaders and industry representatives. The delegation hopes to explore new business opportunities to further boost cooperation and trade over the next four decades.
