TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Typhoon Yinxing (銀杏) is forecast to bring rain to the north and east over the weekend, while a northeast monsoon will see cooler temperatures from Thursday (Nov. 7).
As of 2 a.m., the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Typhoon Yinxing (銀杏) was 640 km southeast of Eluanbi moving west-northwest at 8 kph with maximum sustained winds of 136 kph and gusts of up to 172 kph.
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said that on Thursday and Friday there will be scattered rain along the north coast, and eastern Greater Taipei, with occasional brief showers in the east. Meanwhile, the rest of the country will see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
He added the north would become cooler with lows of 16 C in the plains, while central and southern regions would be warm during the day and cool in the morning and evening.
Wu forecast that from Friday to Tuesday, Typhoon Yinxing will bring rain to the north and east, while areas south of Hsinchu will remain clear and stable. The north will stay relatively cool, and central and southern regions will see large diurnal temperature fluctuations.
During this period, occasional heavy rain may occur along the north coast, mountainous areas of Greater Taipei, and the east.
