TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Two tropical depressions over the Pacific Ocean southeast of Taiwan are likely to turn into tropical storms within 24 hours, but their impact on Taiwan is not yet clear, forecasters said Saturday (Nov. 9).
Tropical Depression 27 is expected to become Tropical Storm Toraji and head west, reaching the Philippines island of Luzon on Monday (Nov. 11), the Liberty Times reported. After crossing the heavily populated island, it will continue on a westerly course in the direction of the Chinese island of Hainan and Vietnam, bypassing Taiwan entirely.
The path of Tropical Depression 28 is not clear at the moment, forecasters said. The depression is likely to turn into the 24th tropical storm of this season, named Man-yi.
Because of general weather conditions in the area, the storm is likely to head west towards either Luzon or the Bashi Channel between Taiwan and the Philippines.
